FliteTest Hi-Start Hook

FliteTest Hi-Start Hook

I couldn't find any templates for the tow hook Josh was using on his FT Simple Soarer in the Glider Challenge video from FliteTest, so I created my own. It was made using reference stills from the episode (seen above). The hook should firmly grasp the two-foamboard-thick edge on the underside of the FT Simple Soarer fuselage without binding. See instructions below for more. Two versions are available: one is 5mm thick, closest to the original, and suitable for most people; the other is 10mm thick, which spreads the launching force across a larger area, protecting your model from damage during vigorous launches. Post-Printing After printing, tie a long string to the hole on the bottom of the hook. The length of the string will match the height of your hi-start launch exactly. Then tie a plastic streamer (or garbage bag tie) to the central hole on the hook. It should have enough drag to pull the hook back and off your model as tension is released on the string.
