Flite Test Spitfire Canopy (cut for easier printing)
thingiverse
I encountered several issues when printing my own, which were mainly due to printer problems. To overcome these challenges, I simply cut the canopy front window into sections and laid them flat for printing. Most of the thicker pieces needed a bit more material, so after printing, they can be attached with super-glue. This modified design should now print successfully without any supports at all. However, it will result in a heavier final product than the original files. I also increased the overall height of the entire print by a couple of millimeters to match the size of my scratch-built turtle deck on my own Spitfire. I only recommend this remix over the original if you're experiencing difficulties printing the window without supports or if it keeps breaking. Adding weight high up on your plane behind its Center of Gravity is never beneficial, and this modified file is indeed beefier and heavier than the original one it was remixed from! Nonetheless, I wanted to share it in case someone else encounters similar issues with the original file.
