<p>The Raspberry pi 4 runs hot.</p> <p>So hot, in fact, that it heat soaked my FLIRC case in the time it took to watch half a movie in Kodi.</p> <p>I dug around in my spare parts bin and found a 40mm X 40mm X 10mm heat sink and a 12v 40mm Noctua fan.</p> <p>I designed the cooler to direct the fan air across the heat sink, which was placed on the largest flat surface of the case.</p> <p>The 12v fan is connected to the 5V and ground pins on the GPIO header and the wires are routed through the nearest slot on the aluminum case. Since this was already a quiet fan, and it's under-volted, it's silent.</p> <p>This setup brought the case temperature down from Too-Hot-To-Touch to Relatively-Room-Temperature with nearly no increase in noise.</p> <p>As a bonus, I stacked every spare heat sink I had directly under the fan, because why not?</p> <p>I'm working on a version that uses a blower fan for a lower/cleaner profile and will update when it is ready.</p> <p>I included the Inventor file and a STEP file for anyone who wants to remix.</p> <h3>Print Settings</h3> <p><strong>Printer Brand:</strong></p> <p>Prusa</p> <p class="detail-setting printer"><strong>Printer: </strong> <div><p>I3 MK3S</p></div> <p><strong>Rafts:</strong></p> <p>No</p> <p class="detail-setting supports"><strong>Supports: </strong> <div><p>No</p></div> <p><strong>Resolution:</strong></p> <p>.2</p> <p class="detail-setting infill"><strong>Infill: </strong> <div><p>20%</p></div> <p><strong>Filament:</strong> Inland PETG Black</p> <p><br/> <p class="detail-setting notes"><strong>Notes: </strong></p> </p><div><p>PLA will also work.
