FLIR One Battery & Mount Mod
thingiverse
The problem with lithium batteries being embedded in everything these days is that things become obsolete when the battery dies. I'm not willing to throw something away simply because the battery dies, especially not something that costs hundreds of dollars. Resurrecting a dead device, increasing battery capacity, and being able to mount it on something other than my phone were the impetus for this design. The dimensions of exco's original design were perfect, so I just made it a little bigger to hold a larger battery, added a base with a hole that can be threaded for a 1/4 20 mount (or enlarged for threaded inserts), a spot for an extension cable, and some holes for 4mm hardware to hold it together. I removed the back of the camera and replaced the battery with another I had laying around. A dead vape battery is perfect for this, and you can find those on the ground. I left the back off the camera to accommodate the larger battery and popped the whole thing into the case. Now it works again, holds a charge, can be mounted off the phone with standard tripod mounting hardware, and has a much higher battery capacity!
