What is flipping arrows? Flipping arrows is a puzzle that challenges you to turn dice to match your chosen goal. The Goal? Your objective can be one of five: • To have all top faces white • To have all top faces gray • To have all top faces both white and gray • To have all top faces white or gray, with the colors aligned in the same direction • To have all top faces with the same color and arrows pointing in the same direction How to Turn the Dice? Each dice has a top face with one or two colors and an arrow. You can rotate the dice by a quarter turn in the direction indicated by the arrow. Select the dice you want to flip, then rotate it by a quarter turn. The dice in line with the first dice will also rotate by a quarter turn in the same direction, regardless of their own arrow's direction. If a dice is on an edge and its arrow faces outside the board, only that dice rotates. How Many Dice Combinations Are Possible? Each face has four possible arrow directions, each dice has six faces, and there are nine dice on the board. This results in (4*6)^9 = 2,641,807,540,224 combinations. Some combinations are easy to solve while others require more effort. The complexity of the puzzle also depends on your chosen goal. You Love It? I invested time and money creating this puzzle. Each of the nine dice is printed with two colors, using 0.2mm layers, 20% infill, no brim, and no support. For optimal results, change the color at 10.2mm.
