Flip Top for Wide Mouth Mason Jars
thingiverse
I've been working diligently on this flip top design for quite some time now, refining it through numerous revisions to achieve perfection, and I'm still making steady progress on creating a similar top for regular mouth jars. This top will seamlessly fit onto a wide-mouth mason jar, replacing the standard sealing lid while continuing to utilize the screw-on ring for effortless functionality. If your printer boasts an extremely smooth bed surface, you might be able to print this design without any additional gaskets required. However, if your bed surface leaves something to be desired, applying a small bead of silicone along the bottom edge works exceptionally well in sealing any gaps that may form. My particular 3D printing setup has excellent bridging capabilities, so I didn't need to incorporate support material during the cap's production phase. Depending on the specific printer you're utilizing, some degree of support under the cap might be necessary. Now let's move onto the easy part – assembly instructions. To get started, print a lid and a corresponding cap. Subsequently, carefully press the tangs of the cap into the lid to secure them in place. Keep in mind that if your printer lacks an incredibly smooth bed surface, you may need to apply some silicone-based sealant between the lid and the jar to ensure proper sealing functionality.
