Flip Retractable Auto Level Probe for Kossel
thingiverse
A retractable probe featuring an over-centering design is employed to activate the switch. The wire has a diameter of 0.031 inches. The switch used is available at http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/AV404461/255-3401-ND/646763. Refer to the instructions for further details. Credit goes to Kossel Mini J-Head Retainer (white part) in the first photo. The switch is bonded to the flipper using cyanoacrylate glue, ensuring that the adhesive does not interfere with the switch's mechanics. Pliers with 8.3mm wide jaws determine the folded spring width. Folding it as shown ensures adequate spring action when stretched in place, and the long leg should be approximately 20mm for extension beyond the retracted switch by 3-4mm. The wire used is music wire with a diameter of 0.8mm (0.031 inches), which also serves as the hinge pin. To install, first place the spring followed by the hinge pin. A replacement endstop screw consists of a nut and a long screw with a cut-off head to create a smooth stud. The effector can be driven to positions where the spring vertex is just above or below this stud, enabling either deployment or retraction of the switch.
