Flip Clock Modular Enclosure
thingiverse
After many years, I've finally decided to breathe new life into my trusty flip-clock mechanism (COPAL GG-2930). Removed from its former home in the UNITRA DIORA GONG DMP 241 radio, it was long overdue for an upgrade. So, I designed and printed a custom enclosure using a 3D printer - what a relief! The finished enclosure consists of six distinct parts: Frame, MainPanel, two MiddleWall segments, one EndWall piece, and one BackWall component. With the individual sections carefully combined with hot glue, the mechanism itself is securely fastened to the BackWall using screws. To add an extra touch of elegance, I commissioned a friend who's skilled in locksmithing to craft two bespoke windscreen options for me: Glass_a features an oval shape with a filling frame, while Glass_b boasts a rectangular design that perfectly matches the main panel. Both options were crafted from 4mm thick LEXAN and handmade with precision. Although I had access to the original knobs, I opted to create my own in a bold new color - a perfect way to put my personal stamp on this revamped timepiece!
