Flint Hand Axe
sketchfab
Karl Lee's skilled hands crafted a sturdy flint hand axe during our recent 'Stone age arts and crafts' family event, where he led the young archaeologists club (SPARCS) in mastering this ancient skill. In the morning session, Karl guided the children through the process of creating their own hand axes, teaching them to harness the power of stone tools. Later, he delivered engaging demonstrations to families attending our stone age arts and crafts event, showcasing his expertise in flintwork. This hand axe would have been used by ancient hunters for butchering large prey, its frequent use and reshaping evident through archaeology. Archaeologists rarely find such axes at their manufacturing sites, indicating they were highly valued and sought-after tools. Karl also produced exquisite flint arrowheads of the Bronze Age type, leaving a lasting impression that our ancestors possessed intelligence comparable to ours, but applied it in ways we can hardly imagine today.
