Flexy-Hand

myminifactory

A groundbreaking proof of concept printable hand featuring "live hinge" flexible joints has been developed. Individually activated fingers are achieved using Filaflex filament or nylon fishing wire as tendons. The hand is printed in PLA with Filaflex hinges, making it a fully printable solution that requires no additional components. The innovative design allows for automatic finger opening without the need for return tendons or springs. "Frictionless" articulation ensures smooth movement with no rubbing parts. Stretchable tendons provide an adaptive grip on irregular objects, requiring only one motor to activate all fingers. This rugged and tough hand is designed to mimic realistic form under a surgical glove. Its durable construction makes it perfect for robotic or prosthetic projects. The STEP-file of the body is included, allowing users to remix this idea into their own creations. The first printed Flexy-Hand is now on display in the iMakr Store, London. An article about the Flexy-Hand can be found on 3DPrint.com, along with a video and video review courtesy of 3DUniverse.org and jesimon.
