Flexy-Hand 2 With Out Flexy filament
thingiverse
As an e-NABLE volunteer, my goal was to simplify building a Flexy-Hand 2 to test and add it to my hand types list with minimal hassle. If you're considering building a Fexy-Hand or Flexy Hand 2 but don't want to face the difficult learning curve involved in using flexible filament, which reportedly includes extruder gear jams and other frustrations with multiple filaments, this mould might be worth trying out. I have adjusted the shape of all the hinges to achieve a sturdy hand action and am pleased with the results after testing it with just Oogoo. A mere $3 investment will get you started, as the Mould is designed for 100% scale Flexy Hands 2. Simply print it at 110% scale if your hands are printed at that size, trimming it as needed to align joints perfectly. Instructions Refer to the linked instructables for cautions when making Oogoo, a mixture of Silicone I and cornstarch. It's relatively easy to prepare - simply mix in enough cornstarch to turn clear Silicone I white. Prepare the space accordingly, preferably outside or in a well-ventilated area. If printed from PLA, no prep work is necessary for this mould; allow it at least four hours to dry before removing it, and for added safety, let it sit overnight. As a result, Oogoo doesn't stick to PLA, making it easy to pop the hinges out with a flat-ended rod. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Your-Own-Sugru-Substitute/
