FlexRC Ascent 2" Loc8tor Holder
thingiverse
After repeatedly losing my FlexRC Ascent in thick grass several times - once took a grueling 45 minutes to find - I decided to give the Loc8tor a try. A member of my RC club had one installed on his plane and swore by its effectiveness, so I designed a top-mounted housing for the Ascent. The resulting unit resembles a miniature radar antenna perched atop the aircraft. Fortunately, this addition has not impacted flight times or aerobatic performance in any way. The entire assembly, including mount and zip tie, weighs just under 10 grams - a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with knowing my Ascent is easier to locate than ever before. This cheap insurance policy has already more than paid for itself in saved flight time alone. In fact, I can now quickly track down a downed Ascent in thick grass within just a minute or two. The unit's self-contained battery ensures continued operation even if the aircraft ejects its main power source, providing complete reliability and convenience.
