Fleximal rule30
thingiverse
I created Fleximal - an intriguing creature with a rule30 design on its skin. I crafted it to experiment with cellular automata. A high-speed computer is beneficial for rendering quickly. It took 44 minutes on my 3.5 MHz PC to add the pattern to the animal. The rules of cellular automation patterns are straightforward, but implementing them in OpenSCAD proved challenging - uaaah recursions! Check out this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elementary_cellular_automaton I was unable to directly apply the pattern to Fleximal. So there are three separate OpenSCAD files: one for creating the animal, one for generating the pattern, and one for combining the pattern with the animal. Each newly rendered pattern appears slightly different due to the initial random line. Have a great print!
