To address the specific requirements of Guatemala's rural community, this design proposal for sunglasses features a series of innovative elements. The top model includes a storage box and an adjustable wrap to protect against intense sunlight and wind, preventing Pterygium disease. The plus model features a soft material frame with adjustable neoprene straps, personalized with native tissue details, while the basic model incorporates natural rubber sheaths for added protection. The frames are made from a soft polymer material that meets international safety standards and are designed to fit various facial structures. A 3D printing process using the Makerbot Replicator2 is proposed for production, making it accessible to the rural area's productive structure. Additionally, customizing options for rods and a separate design for girls are suggested to enhance appeal and functionality. The ultimate goal is to create a sunglass model that protects against Pterygium while also appealing to children in Guatemala's rural communities.
