Although it functions well without them, having them enhances flexibility. Printing with PLA results in some give, but repeated bending will eventually lead to breakage. The bridge supporting the zip tie keeps the center from fully flexing; however, applying pressure near the middle can cause a slight bend. Active cooling is recommended to bridge the gap on top effectively. If filament sag occurs, removal using tweezers or a razor knife resolves the issue before use.
