Flexible TPU strap for Prusa RC3 face shield - PLA/PETG designs as backup included
thingiverse
Since numerous face shield clones are now available on thingiverse, I decided to design a face shield band that enables comfortable wearing of no-clamping versions like the extremely popular Prusa RC3. The belt should fit even larger heads with a circumference up to approximately 63cm. If you're using the band on a Prusa RC3, it will allow for a head circumference up to 65cm. It also locks onto the rubber attachment bracket and prevents the band from disconnecting when not wearing the face shield. I've included the FreeCAD model if you want to modify the design to fit your preferred face shield design better. Since I received multiple requests from people without TPU, I added a PLA/PETG version fitting perfectly on the Prusa RC3 (see picture: green band). In this case, I had to reduce the nub diameter and increase the hole to attach it to the Prusa RC3 due to the almost no flex of PLA/PETG. However, be aware that PETG and PLA prints are not comfortable and were only designed as a backup. I recommend them for short-term use only. To assemble, I highly recommend warming up the end before attaching it to the FaceShield, especially with PLA, which tended to break during testing.
