Flexible Perovskite Structure
thingiverse
This is an adjustable perovskite framework for experimentation and learning about structural distortions. The model draws inspiration from 3D printed perovskite tilt systems used by Prof. Mike Glazer in his 2017 Bragg Lecture, which can be found at http://www.amg122.com/3dprinting/. This modular set is designed to allow the final structure to grow as large as desired. To create a basic unit cell, you will need: 48 x atom_middle 24 x atom_end 16 x octahedron_half To assemble the perovskite framework, additional materials are required: Elastic cord (e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FNUFT8K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (Super) glue Tweezers or a vice to hold the elastic cord tight while tying knots The assembly process for a single unit cell is straightforward: 1. Glue together 24 x atom_middle. 2. Glue together 16 x octahedron_half. 3. Thread the elastic cord through atom_middle + glued octahedron + glued atom_middle + glued octahedron + atom_middle and tie knots at each end. 4. Glue atom_end onto each atom_middle to complete a quarter of the structure. 5. Repeat 1-4 to connect the parts into a single unit cell.
