This lens hood is a two-part design, featuring a bayonet printed in a ridged material, such as PETG, and a tube made from a flexible material like TPU. The flexible outer component provides additional protection to the lens, safeguarding it against damage. This design ensures a snug fit over the lens barrel when reversed, preventing it from getting caught. In working position, the lens hood has a clear mark for alignment. When reversed, a twist of approximately 45° secures it in place. The margin between the edges and the view port is slightly over 1mm, providing a comfortable buffer zone. Unlike most stock lens hoods, which are often bulky, have an ill-matched shape, and a poor fit that can damage internal mechanisms, this custom-made lens hood actually adds protection to the lens. However, one drawback of homemade lens hoods is their tendency to glitter. A narrow opening at the front helps minimize this issue.
