Flexible Jerrycan (jerrysack) adapters for resuscitator or water filter
thingiverse
These adapters can be printed to add extra functionality to the flexible jerrycan, which is part of the Core Relief item catalogue of the UNHCR. They were designed by participants of the Core Relief workshop at www.corerelief.org. The adapter kit contains three key components: a cap adapter that attaches a regular-sized PET bottle cap, allowing you to limit water flow and dispense it more easily. Some PET bottle caps, like those on sports drinks, feature special dispensers that can now be used with the jerrysack. A water filter is also included, adapted from the design of an open-source 3D-printed water filter found at instructables.com/id/Open-Source-3D-Printed-Water-Filter. This filter requires activated charcoal to function; see the instructable for further information. Additionally, an adapter for a breathing mask is provided, although it may not work with all types of masks – only the one tried out was successful. The flexible jerrycan can be used to push air into the mask. These designs are not complete but rather serve as inspiration for others working on similar projects. Depending on the emergency scenario being addressed, a 3D printer can quickly produce these specific tools in the field or mass-produce water filters as a cheaper alternative to bottled water. To use the jerrysack as a breather device, follow this process:
