This minimalist laptop stand prototype is engineered to be as straightforward as possible in terms of manufacturing and usage. To minimize material consumption and packaging size, I implemented nesting techniques to reduce waste and utilize the full width of the material. For prototyping purposes, I opted for a very affordable material: OSB (oriented strand board). Its rustic appearance can be surprisingly smoothed out with sanding. This stand is versatile, allowing it to be used both horizontally and upright. Simply place the beam into the slots on the top end, and the interlocking design provides sufficient rigidity. The components can be disassembled for shipping and transportation. The build was completed using a desktop CNC machine from Stepcraft with 15 mm OSB and a spiral-toothed 3 mm flute.
