Flexible inlay + stronger screw
thingiverse
2 key upgrades: * Versatile inserts * Sustainably designed screw VERSATILE INSERTS The primary components must be printed from PETG or ABS for robustness, yet they are slippery. I developed two inserts that can be printed using flexible material like TPE or TPU. STRENGTHENED SCREW I was unable to successfully print the thread with the original design, and even after extensive tweaking the screw proved to be excessively brittle. 3D printouts are strongest along their layers and frequently break between them. Printing the screw vertically, as in the original design, makes it its weakest point where it needs the most strength. To prevent needing supports (which would interfere with the threads greatly) I flattened one side of the screw, so we can now print it lying flat. This has numerous advantages: * It becomes much, much stronger * The missing side adds tolerance if the threads are not perfectly smooth * The flat head provides a better grip when driving it in DONATIONS If you find that this item adds value for you, consider supporting the designer by sending a tip.
