Flexible filament runout sensor holder
thingiverse
This holder serves as a filament runout sensor mount for printers with the spool positioned on top and a direct drive extruder, causing the filament to descend straight down. I affixed the filament sensor to a spring, resembling a fishing rod in appearance. This design allows the sensor to naturally align with the filament's direct path as the printhead moves horizontally. This is particularly crucial when printing tall objects, as the printhead approaches the spool. This solution was created for my Ender 3 Pro with a DDE system but can be adapted for similar setups. Additional materials required: 1x DIN912 (socket) M4x8 ~ M4x10 screw for the base 2x DIN912 (socket) M3x10 ~ M3x20 screw for the spring 1x M3 nut 1x M4 T-nut (hammer nut) or a printed equivalent from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3829107 1x spring with a length of 20~60mm, with mine measuring 40mm in length The OpenSCAD file is attached for any modifications you may wish to make.
