This extruder is designed to print flexible filament using an aluminum extruder. The gear clearance is extremely tight, often touching the gears themselves. You'll barely need any specialized tools beyond the 2mm and 2.5mm Allen wrenches that usually come with most printers. Long-term performance remains untested, but updates will be made available in due course.
