Flexible Doorstop

Flexible Doorstop

Printed with TPU-95 this is NOT for PLA. Other flex/semi-flex filaments would work as well although I have not tried (I am thinking other TPU's, nylon, or flex PLAs). In TPU with a solid wood door a good hit causes about 1/8"-1/4" (3mm-6mm) deflection. The top sphere absorbs most of the shock. These doorstops are designed to match the original wooden doorstops that are to a colonial revival style (early 1900's) house. These look the same as the originals from the side although the mounting method is different since no one would hollow a wooden stop as i did to get the right stiffness/material savings. The doorstop is 2.75" (about 70mm) tall. The pilot hole is for a #8 wood screw ( .175", 4.45mm) sorry metric folks, I am sure some metric wood screw works (only metric machine screws are available in the USA so i have no idea what sizes you can get). I ended up using a #6 drywall screw because they have a large flat head relative to shank size and also noted a #9 framing screw also fit. The controlling dimension is the opening on top of the door stop. Make sure the head diameter does not exceed the opening diameter of .35" (8.89mm). Snug the wood screw but don't go nuts, remember the doorstop is only held in place by the screw once loaded the screw does nothing.
