A detailed engineering evaluation of molded plastic connector cavities and cast urethane connector bricks reveals their considerable flexibility. Under 3 bar pressure, deflections must be managed by a successful sealing and fastening system. A patent-pending solution is proposed that includes interlocking lips between the cavity and brick to control lateral spreading of cavity walls, and a flexible steel beam seal clamp that preloads the connector assembly to withstand internal pressure while accommodating deflections. The clamp is manufactured with specified beam curvature for uniform loading when fixed to the cavity by two screws at each end. Revisions to the brick flange enable standard O-ring elastomer seal installation between the cavity interior and brick flange O-ring, enhancing reliability and assembly/disassembly efficiency.
