Create a mini drill press using an old binocular microscope; drilling precise tiny holes in steel with micro-drill bits was difficult without it. The scope's stable table, accurate vertical control, and dovetailed ways made it ideal for the task. Designing and printing the required part was straightforward, and it worked on the first try. For stability, the part has a thickness of 0.25 inches, weighing 47g with a 10g support. Printing took two hours using "Normal" quality and 0.3mm layers. A flex shaft with foot switch was chosen over Dremel tool for ease of design and weight concerns. To prevent chips and dust from flying around, a protective cover made from plastic wrap could be added, along with a large magnifier attachment.
