Flex Coupler
thingiverse
This flexible coupler was applied on a NEMA23 motor with a 1/4" shaft to a 1/4" screw shaft, replacing initially purchased rigid shaft couplers due to excessive noise and vibration transmission. The new coupler effectively dampened the noise and seems sturdy; however, long-term durability is yet to be tested. Its dimensions measure 25mm in length and 26mm in width and height. It was printed from ABS using a .35mm extruder nozzle with Slic3r 0.8.4 software, and the provided config.ini file serves as a starting point for adjustments. The part is compatible with M3 screws (about 30mm length) and nuts. For better first-layer adhesion, brim setting can be used but cleaned up later or set to zero before printing. A recent update on July 8th, 2012, has improved the design for less cleanup required. The .stp file is also available for potential modifications to different shaft sizes.
