In SolidWorks 2017, an assembly level array was used to model a part with a large number of elements (total 2340) to avoid creating a massive file if placed in one complex part. The resulting .sldasm file size is 375 KB, while the same component modeled as a single .sldprt file was 22 MB and had zero thickness geometry error when trying to extrude cut flattened mesh with intersecting internal diamond shape. A file named "FlattenedExpandedMetal2" has been created to address this issue. Additionally, US commercial sizes such as 1/2"-13F, 3/4"-9F, and 1-1/2"-9F were added based on Niles Fence catalog data (not field confirmed).
