This is a carefully compiled and streamlined version of Andrea Garuti's iconic Castle Under Attack, specifically tailored for precise laser cutting. To Begin: These files represent a meticulously disassembled and flattened rendition of Andrea Garuti's captivating Castle Under Attack model. This model took the top spot in the highly acclaimed GrabCAD/SolidSmack laser cut toy contest, as reported by http://blog.ponoko.com/2013/05/02/awesome-laser-cut-castle-under-attack-features-working-catapult-trebuchet/. I was thoroughly impressed by Andrea's outstanding work and generosity in releasing his CAD files under open-source license. With this new flattened, cuttable version, I aimed to provide a more accessible resource for those seeking to create these intricate laser-cut pieces. The original CAD file is an intricately assembled representation of the sprawling 3D scene, boasting over 1000 pieces and unsuitable for direct cutting. In contrast, these files are expertly disassembled, carefully aligned to the x-axis, and meticulously flattened into precise 2D projections for accurate laser cutting. Although I am 99.9% certain that all critical cuts are secure, there may still be a few minor irregularities – specifically, the wheels were initially projected as circles measuring 30mm but became oblong during rendering. Ongoing cleanup will continue to address any outstanding issues. Early experiments have seen successful cutting of several siege engines, and I am excited to soon share images documenting these efforts.
