Flatfish-ish 3D-Printed Lure
myminifactory
One of my go-to fishing lures is the Helin's Flatfish, which has been around since the 1930s and can still be found at the Yakima Bait Company. Its unique shape generates incredibly realistic motion across a broad range of retrieval speeds. As a kid making my own wooden fishing lures, I attempted to build upon it... with limited success. This, my first attempt at creating a similar design using 3D printing, landed two largemouth bass (as shown) in just half an hour! You're likely to catch more fish with the real deal, but catching any fish whatsoever on a homemade 3D-printed lure is definitely a thrill. I've now developed an improved second design available in three different sizes...
