flat to 5mm shaft coupler
thingiverse
Here's how you can use coupling to attach a 5mm shaft stepper motor to a flat surface like cardboard. I used this to connect a cardboard VAWT to an old stepper so I could play with a multiple rectification circuit. Hot glue works well, and it's easy to drill. A 123d file is attached for your use. The shaft has no flat because my stepper had no flat. A locking screw makes this compatible with round and flat shafts. Be careful with the locking screw. If you tighten it too much, you may split the shaft (thick collar and high infill, and I have had no issues). Fine threads seem to spin with too much torque. The shaft is 5.2mm, resize as needed for your printer. I drilled mine out with a 5mm bit for a snug fit. The locking screw is 3mm.
