New version available: Please check out the new Ultra Flat Filamentholder model, now updated to be 8mm lower, more accurate, and faster printing :)\nFeatures of the Flat Filament Spool Holder\nJune 6th - Finally finished making it. Enjoy :)\nQuickrelease with simple fingernut\nVery smooth spoolmotion with wellplaced bearings supporting the spool on 4 points.\nNo special tools, screws or springs needed\nParts Description\n2x-quickrelease-no_springs This part consist of 2 parts but is printed in one go. There is room for fingernut on the rear end, which presses down on the break-away lower part of this piece. The lower part is then pulled upwards and together they squeeze tight on ..\n4x_pulley-flanged_bearing.stl This is the pulleys where you put 2x flanged bearings into each.\n2x_lower_mount_points Added internal spacer for the F608zz bearings. It's slightly higher than the bearing to provide smooth runnings.\nSpacers I included a few different spacers to make sure you had something fitting your printer. \nBill Of Material\n4x 20mm M3 screws. \n2x 35mm M3 screws.\n10x M3 nuts\n8x F608ZZ bearings\nQuickrelease each: 1x 20mm M3 screw. 2x M3 nuts. 2x F608zz bearings\nFingernut each: 1x 20mm M3 screw. 2x M3 nuts.\nLower Mount Points each: 35mm M3 screws. 1x M3 nut. 2x F608zz bearings\nMounting bracket (Holder): 3x 12mm screws. 3x M3 nuts.Link to show the F608ZZ bearings from RobotDigg\nPrint Settings\nPrinter:\nJennyPrinter\nRafts:\nNo\nSupports:\nNo\nResolution:\n0.2-0.25\nInfill:\n20%\nPost-Printing\nDrilling overlay. This is just to give an idea of the spacing of the holes. You can obviously mount it lower, if you have not mounted a Ramps back here.\nDrilling guidelines\nUnless you have an original Ultimaker you need to drill some holes. You want to line it up according to your machine, but remember to take into account the smallest and largest roll you might want to use.\nAlso make sure the filament has a nice path to the extruder. I recommend trying my Universal Belted Extruder - Bowden and Direct I'm working on. It is strong enough to pull every last bit of plastic off your filament spool regardless of how rigid it is :)\nI found a sweet spot at 10cm between the parts horizontally. 12cm between the lower holes vertically and 19cm between the topmost holes horizontally. - see Photo\nClearance\nMake sure none of the screws or nuts hits your bed or some other moving part inside your printer!\nPrepare the QuickReleaseBlocks by screwing a M3 screw through each of them before assembling.\nAssemble the QuickRelease item with the QuickReleaseBlock and fingerscrew loosely. You might need to use a screwdriver! See update below regarding lock-nuts\nAdd a nut-lock to the screw before inserting it into the fingerscrew. Add the spacer and a locknut or just a normal nut to fix it in place.\nIf you want to edit items I recommend using Tinkercad.com\nIt is 100% free and made by Autodesk. It is online and the items you store are kept in the cloud for ease of access on multiple devices.\nCustom Section\nSources and changes\nThis is a remake of The Claw - A clamping style filament spool holder\nThe fingernut is from Ultimate Nut Knob Generator and is named Fingernut_M3x10_v1_1.stl\nChanges\nMain change has been to do away with the spring and modify the "quickrelease" part to include a fingernut-style tightening system - *this part is still a Work in Progress* - only in concept quality at the moment, but it works fine!\nI have tried changing the pieces to make use of common lengths screws and normal M3 nuts.\nI have modified the Pulleys so they now require 2x Flanged bearings each. This is done to increase the smoothness of filament-spool, meaning less strain on extruder.. I had encountered a couple of instances, where the original bound up on me.\nThe numbers in the parts' name denotes the amount you need to print\nAll parts are changed except the long "2x-body"
