Flat cable chain mod for Anet A8
cults3d
I printed out and installed Starwhooper's Improved Linear Chain to Extruder on Anet A8 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1905344) and also davbarr's Z_Motor_Fixation_Chain for Anet A8 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2055872). Like a lot of users the chain would pop out of the z-axis mount and curve upwards and not stay flat and parallel when the x-axis carriage was moving. So I designed this mod, to hold the chain flat and parallel when attached to the z-axis mount. It uses a medium chain piece from Starwhooper and lifts the connection higher to provide a more parallel run for the chain to the extruder, along with bracing it against x-axis mount to prevent vertical twisting. This part can be printed without support and is designed to slip over the cable, so no need to disconnect the cables and thread it through any parts. I added a cable tie to mine to keep the joint tight and secure (see photos), it works well for me and keeps my chain flat. I printed it at 0.3 resolution to save time, but it would look better at 0.2. This has been tested on an Anet A8 but might work for other printers.
