Flask Liner Customizable
thingiverse
The Flask Liner was originally designed by Dick Morris from Alaska, USA, and he gave it away freely to help fellow metal casting enthusiasts. You can find the original design on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3935956, published by VegOliGuy. There, you'll discover detailed instructions and a video that will guide you through using the liner effectively. I took the liberty of remixing the design to make it customizable. Simply scaling up or down didn't work well for me because both the laths and their cross-sections shrink simultaneously. ### What is it good for? How to use it? The Flask Liner should be inserted from the bottom into a casting flask, leaving about 25 mm free at the pouring side. Print it out of PLA, then fill it with casting plaster, allowing it to harden completely. Once hardened, remove the bottom ring and cut centerlines into the plaster for improved airflow when placing the flask onto a silicon mat. The next step is to burn out the wax or PLA model using the Flask Liner. Finally, place the flask on a vacuum pad ready for pouring. ### How to customize? Open the design in the customizer to change the height and diameter of the liner to match your flask's specifications. The "density" variable controls the number of laths in the lattice. ### Example I created an STL file for one of my flasks, which measures 75 mm tall and 76 mm in diameter.
