Flashforge Small spool Adaptor
thingiverse
This is a basic spool adapter I built so that I can use some spools with twenty-millimeter holes in them. It fits my Flashforge Creator X Pro perfectly. The same adapter may fit other printers of similar design with at least a thirty-millimeter hole for spool mounting. I printed the thirty-millimeter nut at point one-five millimeters layer height using ABS material. This worked wonderfully on my printer, but it may also work just fine in PLA. I manufactured the Spool Adapter at point one millimeters layer height to guarantee that the one-half-13 threads inside came out precisely as needed. To mount a spool securely, I utilize a half-inch-13 inch by five inches bolt. For big spools, you won't have to remove the bolt. You simply slip the spool over the head of the bolt instead. When using smaller spools such as those with twenty-millimeter holes that I happen to have available, I detach the bolt, slide it into the spool and screw it securely into the adaptor. Actually, during my development phase I considered printing using a length of threaded rod rather than relying on a conventional bolt along with an extra nut and washer to keep the spool snugly in place. Possibly even printing a tube to envelop the rod's threads so that the spool would spin effortlessly - just one possible route to enhance this project. Still, my straightforward method is quite functional right now so I chose not to go through all that trouble for the time being. When initially installing the one-half-13 inch bolt into its socket on the adapter, it might initially be somewhat tough due to how tightly packed the interior space truly becomes at those specific tolerances for each part involved. In my particular situation however screwing the bolt back and forth once or twice resolved the problem instantly. The resulting assembly fits well with a bit of elbow grease applied.
