Flashforge Improved Spool Holder

Flashforge Improved Spool Holder

When building structural parts, conserving plastic isn't my top priority. What matters most is creating something reliable and durable that can withstand rough handling without sustaining damage. I designed this spool holder for a few key reasons. The one included with the Guider IIs (and possibly other Flashforge printers) falls short in holding large spools of plastic, which is a common problem many users face. Moreover, it's cumbersome to install and remove these spools when the printer is placed against a wall. I tried out some existing designs online but found them lacking. The one design I attempted to use broke after just three times handling a 2.5kg spool. This was unacceptable, so I decided to create my own solution. My design includes a base that stays securely in place within the printer. A removable spool holder then slides into this base for easy access and storage. Four different sizes are included as default options, but users can also customize their own designs using OnShape. This piece is used for sensing the lower print platform level. If you install the base in this area, it may interfere with the metal piece. If users need to use this side of the printer, please let me know in the comments, and I'll make necessary adjustments to ensure clearance.
