This clever little gadget effectively silences the whining jet engine noise produced by the FlashForge Creator X when idle. The source of this annoying hum is a small 20mm fan at the bottom of the case, which cools the stepper motor drivers. I designed this device during the sweltering summer of 2014 after acquiring my printer and have been utilizing it for over a year now, barely noticing the printer's presence except for the LEDs. This gadget will obviously be ineffective while the extruder fans are blowing, as they utilize the same 20mm fans found at the bottom. The fan I chose to use was this magnetically supported 12-volt Enermax fan, renowned for its extreme quietness. I also purchased an inexpensive adjustable RC step-down converter to bring the power supply's 24 volts down to a mere 12 volts. The duct work does experience some blowback due to the extreme angle, but it still maintains reasonable airflow; far more airflow than the diminutive little stock fan. Note: This may not be compatible with the Creator Pro, as I haven't had the opportunity to inspect its underside yet.
