Human: Upgraded y-axis motor mount for Flashforge Creator series 3D printers that ships without damage. Upon receiving my printer, the original mount was damaged in transit. A replacement part had a hairline crack near the thread insert. I designed four unique models: standard, captured nut, uprated, and upgraded with captured nut. These models were created in SketchUp, utilizing measurements taken with digital calipers from the original mount. For installation instructions, see below: Models designed in SketchUp, sliced in Simplify3D, printed on a Flashforge Pro at 45% infill using a 0.2mm nozzle and 230C in white ABS filament. Preparation: The small holes where M3-sized bolts for captured nuts enter will require drilling out slightly due to the ABS material's shrinkage. Use the appropriate size, as they are snug fits. I placed the captured nuts on top of the recess and heated them with a soldering iron until flush. Also, file 0.25mm from the internal diameter of the center hole for the motor mount shaft collar. Installation: Disconnect Y-Axis motor cable. Remove two M3 Allen bolts from existing motor mount. Take off four Allen bolts holding motor mount onto motor (note the orientation). Perform the above preparation steps. Attach new mount onto motor with four previously removed Allen bolts. Install motor back into printer, ensuring gear fits properly and is secure. Verify belt tension by hand. Reconnect Y-Axis motor cable. Conduct a test print.
