Flashforge Creator Spool Holder (round 1.2")
thingiverse
I acquired a used printer that was lacking one crucial spool holder. Rather than spend $20 on an imported replacement, I decided to design and print one myself. Initially, I struggled with the nut, so I compensated by adding one at 101% and another at 102% diameter. Additionally, I provided two alternative lengths (90mm and 60mm) alongside the original 80mm from stop to middle. The printer was set to 0.3mm course resolution since it's situated in a secondary location. I opted for four shells with a 10% infill. To address the stl mesh issues that Sketchup often encounters, I imported the designs and corrected the problematic areas. My intention was to enable adjustable length options, but after printing the first part, I realized this feature wasn't essential. Fortunately, my DIY spool holder worked as intended, although it didn't last long due to an unexpected encounter with my curious dog, who inexplicably enjoys munching on ABS plastic. Now that I've donated the printer to a local school, I no longer have access to photos of the printed part.
