Flash grid (Nikon SB900/SB600, but should be fairly generic)

Lighting is a blast to play with! There are countless ways to customize lights, countless ways to tweak them. Countless things to splurge on... but print this, and you won't have to shell out cash for a flash grid! I used to own one of these contraptions, but I lost it somewhere along the line, and never got around to replacing it. Instead of breaking out my wallet, I called upon my trusty 3D printer and ordered it to produce a brand new one. But before we dive in - what's a flash grid? In short, a flash tends to light up a broad area. They're great at that, but sometimes you need something more precise, especially when trying to make an object stand out against a darker background. There are several solutions, but many of them result in a harsh boundary between the dark and light areas - this is where the grid modifier comes in. Take a look at the sample photo and you'll see that the grid makes the light focused on a narrower spot while fading the boundary nicely. It's a great tool for portraiture! Now, let's get to the model itself: You'll need to print: One adapter Two small bolts One big bolt (or the longer version) One 10mm grid The small bolts hold the grid in place on the adapter. The big bolt secures the adapter to the flash unit itself. This should be pretty self-explanatory if you're holding the parts in your hands. Get creative! Experiment with different options and rework the grid into a unique modifier to share with others. The point of this adapter is to make it easy to swap out different modifications on the fly!
