Flash Drive Storage Unit

In today’s highly digitized world, optimal data storage and organization is extremely helpful. For people who need more storage on their computer, flash drives (also known as thumb drives or jump drives) are one of the first options to allow additional files or programs to be used on a computer. However, due to their small size, it is extremely easy to lose them and in turn the data that was placed onto them, with this happening to myself on multiple occasions. For this reason, I have imagined the flash drive storage unit; a compartmentalized part that is capable of holding up to eight flash drives within a standard size range. Each compartment is dimensioned 0.988 inches x 0.650 inches, and they are each three inches deep. This allows for the storage of normally shaped flash drives in a variety of popular sizes, with research for these specifications being done from both the internet and my personal measurement of flash drives available to me. Additionally, the unit contains a base 0.25 inches thick that extends 0.5 inches around the container on all sides to ensure stability. The design of the container can help people sort which files they assign to certain drives, the physical organization therefore assisting with digital organization. The benefit of added data storage in addition to maintaining an orderly workspace and digital file explorer makes the flash drive storage unit very practical in today’s world.
