flange coupling
grabcad
A sleeve coupling, also referred to as a box coupling, is designed with a pipe featuring an inner diameter corresponding to the shaft size. This coupling incorporates a keyway in its bore for torque transmission via a key. To secure the position of the coupling, two threaded holes are included. Sleeve couplings, made from cast iron and simple to manufacture, involve shaft ends being coupled and butted against each other, enveloped by a muff or sleeve. A gib head sunk key maintains the assembly's integrity. Fundamentally, this is the most basic coupling type, used for power transmission between shafts via a key and sleeve.
