Flaming Torch
thingiverse
I designed this "Flaming Torch" for my daughter's project, specifically tailored to accommodate a 3mm LED, which will be nestled inside a cave setting. If desired, it's easy to upscale the design to fit either a 5mm or even a 10mm LED. I opted for a .2mm layer height when printing and was thoroughly impressed with the outcome. To assemble the torch, first print the "spike" separately before carefully inserting its curved end into the hole located at the base of the torch. A dab of super glue will secure it firmly in place. Next, thread two fine wires through the holes on the torch and trim the LED's legs to a manageable length for easy soldering. I recommend connecting the wires to the LED and then securing it with hot glue. To achieve an authentic flame appearance, try scrunching up some yellow cellophane into a flame-like shape around the LED. Don't hesitate to reach out if you encounter any issues; I'd love to hear about your progress. When printing both the spike and the torch base, be sure to orient them perpendicular to your printer's bed. Adding a generous amount of Brim will prevent any potential adhesion issues during the printing process.
