Flakpanzer Gepard 1:100 - Easier Turret Print
thingiverse
This is an updated version of Sheptr's remix Gepard that features an easier-to-print turret.\r\n\r\nI split off the guns and two radars from the main turret body, adding reinforced versions for the radars because they can easily break off during support removal. Furthermore, the original turret does not fit the chassis as it does not clear the back's heightened area, so there are versions that address this issue as well.\r\n\r\nI made these changes rather hastily in Blender, so there are cutting artifacts, especially where the guns plug into the turret; however, these should be concealed once assembled.\r\n\r\nThe parts may need some sanding, but for me, the guns pressure-fitted perfectly into the holes, and the front radar snapped into its hole right from the print bed after removing supports. Only the back radar might require glue.\r\n\r\nThere are multiple main turret parts in this pack. Here's what they all do:\r\n\r\n* gepardturret is the original unedited file\r\n* Gepard_Turret_Main_Body is simply the original file cut up for modular assembly\r\n* Gepard_Turret_Main_Body_Rotatable is the original turret with an additional cutout to make it fit on the Leopard Chassis. This means that the back boxes are rather thin, and I had to move the antennae up a bit. This turret looks a bit too small when compared to the real thing.\r\n* Gepard_Turret_Main_Body_Redesign does not remove material from the back but rather adds material in the center to make it rotatable. This also makes the turret itself higher, which gives it a more realistic appearance. This modification does not follow any real-world measurements though; instead, it was done simply to enable rotation.\r\n* Gepard_Turret_Main_Body_Redesign_HighAngle is another modification of the above that cuts away material on the sides to allow for limited-angle gun barrel rotation. The barrels cannot be rotated on any other turret.\r\n\r\nThe preview pictures follow this order as well.\r\n\r\nThe picture of the finished tank features the High Angle Redesign. The other picture compares the original turret with the redesign. All parts were printed at 115% scale, using a 0.25mm nozzle and 0.05mm layer height (for the most part: parts of the chassis' tracks are printed at a higher layer height to speed up printing - around 0.1mm).\r\n\r\nI also added two versions of the Leopard Chassis with broken-off tracks for more detailed printing. One is pretty straightforward, V2 is made in such a way that hopefully conceals seams. I have not test-printed either of them, so if you've done so, it would be great if you could leave a comment with how they printed!\r\n\r\nAdditionally, User EntilZar contributed a bar radar for the model to look more like a Dutch Cheetah. This file can be printed instead of the normal radar and slotted into the same spot. Thank you for your contribution!
