Flake Inside a Ball Ornament
thingiverse
This decorative ornament features a distinctive red centerpiece encased inside an open sphere. Instructions First, print the centerpiece itself - do not use supports, and if necessary, set your printer to raft mode so the object sticks properly to the build platform. Once this part is printed, pause and initiate the loading of new filament. Next, resume printing of the decorative ball shape, omitting any internal supports. At about 60% completion, temporarily stop the print and request the load of additional filament from your Makerbot device - refrain from actually adding filament just yet. Now, gently slide the finished centerpiece into place at the bottom of the open sphere. With the object fully assembled, rotate it to position the flake's shaft correctly before inserting it through a precisely designed hold in the upper part of the sphere. By exploiting a clever design feature, you'll be able to easily accomplish this seemingly impossible task. Finally, use a hook securely attached to one end of the flake's slender rod to hang your beautifully crafted decorative ornament from a wall or anywhere else that suits your fancy.
