Flag of the Smithsonian Institution
thingiverse
I saw the Smithsonian Institution Flag and was immediately drawn to its design, I decided to bring it into three dimensions by creating a 3D model of my own. This model is composed of multiple components that can be printed separately or as a single entity. The base serves as an optional foundation, recommended for use in multi-material printers to maintain the alignment of the four rectangles or as a canvas for attaching the various pieces when printing with a single material. The blue and yellow rectangles are two distinct elements that add visual interest to the design. A blue center circle and a yellow center circle complete the model's central feature. By breaking down the model into individual components, it becomes easier to print using a Stereolithography (SLA) printer or other similar technologies, while multi-material printers can produce all parts simultaneously for quicker results.
