Fixed Harpoon, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 2-21.3.10 Likely Hot Springs 2A 100-300 CE Japanese excavations in 1960 uncovered a wealth of information about the site. The research was later detailed in Workman's (1966) Arctic Anthropology article, which spanned 132-153 pages, and Maschner's (2004) AJA article that covered 100-116 pages. The Hot Springs site is a sprawling village situated on the shore of Port Moller, nestled between the Alaska Peninsula and the southern Bering Sea. Over the past century, multiple excavation teams have worked to uncover its secrets. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. The research behind the Hot Springs artifacts was conducted under grants NSF 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. The original digitization took place at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing completed by Global Digital Heritage.
