This has several advantages: Guide the Z shaft to prevent its clashes, Remove all friction noises in the upper part, Allow disassembly and reassembly of the Z shaft passing through the bearing without removing other parts. This also offers the possibility of recovering the entire weight (carriages X) that is on the motor mounts at the lower part, provided that you use longer threaded rods and secure nuts in the upper part.
