Switchback Pro Lite Gloves (arm guards). Five33 kindly gave me the original cad file for the arms of their Switchback Pro Lite & HD quadcopters so I could design these TPU arm guards with near perfect accuracy. I created 5 different versions: 2mm - basic protection with minimal added weight (about 2.5 hours for a full set) 4mm - more protection (about 3 hours for a full set) Padded - has a large circular 'cushion' with compressable air pockets because of the 10% infill, like a vehicle tyre (about 3.5 hours printing) Bumper - padded version with a single bar that links between the front or back arms (about 2.4 hours printing) Bumper Surround - padded version with a bar surrounding the entire quad (about 6 hours printing) Do TPU arm guards with a bumper bar really work? Hell yeah! Check out this 9 second clip of mine from an Emax Hawk 5 with bumpers on the front+back back in 2020: https://youtu.be/J5n20mypn-8 If you're finding installing the bumper bar version on a Switchback a little difficult, persist and stretch it because I purposely made them 5mm shorter to help ensure the bars are held taut between the arms. I very strongly suggest you use these slicer settings which I used to print what you see in the photos: 0.2mm layer height 10% infill 3 perimeters Support everywhere "Ensure vertical shell thickness" turned off 5 solid layers for top & bottom The specific settings I use on all my TPU prints on my Prusa i3 Mk3 are: 230C temperature 100% fan 4mm retract 0mm Z-lift And during printing the TPU filament reel is sat in a temperature controlled food dehydrator set to 50C to stop it soaking up moisture. VERY important that you remove EVERY tiny piece of support material so the arms fit in properly. Please note: At the time of publication these have not been tested on a flying quad, I may need to alter them a tiny bit so a cable tie can be added easily. Print a single glove first to see for yourself how well it holds in place. Thingiverse is a bit broken at the time of publishing this, sometimes zip downloads don't work and you get 404 error, instead you have to click on the Thing Files link https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5146762/files and then click on the individual Download buttons for the STL files.
