Fitbit Charge HR replacement charging clasp
thingiverse
Apparently, a common issue with Fitbit Charge HRs is that the part holding the charger to the back of the device breaks and comes loose. A friend of mine was fed up with trying to get support to replace hers, so I designed a 3D printable solution. While it's not perfect, it gets the job done. This is the smallest object I've ever designed, but Tinkercad rose to the challenge. Instead of creating a separate side button, I integrated it into the clasp since PETG is quite flexible. It serves as a nice tab to hold the clasp onto the Fitbit if you're not ready to glue it on. Just be sure to grip the sides when attaching and detaching the charging cable to avoid any issues. If you do choose to glue it, make sure not to attach the button side to allow for freedom of movement. When it comes to printing with PETG, I found it challenging to print this size reliably due to sticking and stringing issues. The nozzle would frequently get clogged, resulting in blobs, while successful prints were often marred by strings due to inadequate retraction moves. If you have better luck with ABS or PLA, please let me know. I'm considering using nylon as the ideal material for future prints. I'd love to hear how the button performs and may attempt to create a separate button if it doesn't work well when glued onto the Fitbit. Printer Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select 3D with Duplicator i3 Melzi 4.4 board Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .1 or .2mm works okay Infill: It doesn't matter, as it's only 1mm wide.
